Liberty is Jeep’s compact sport utility, fitting into the Jeep lineup between the traditional Wrangler and the flagship Grand Cherokee. The Liberty is the product of more than 60 years of Jeep experience and was introduced in the spring of 2001 as a replacement of the Cherokee.
New for 2007
The 2007 Jeep Liberty adds two-wheel-drive versions of Sport and Limited models and Jeep Green Metallic as a new exterior color.

The Liberty has independent front suspension and a modern rack-and-pinion steering setup for more precise handling on and off road, but the ride is still jittery. The cockpit is narrow, and access is awkward. Stability control and ABS are standard.
