BMW freshened the X3 for 2007, giving this small SUV a new 6-speed automatic, a more powerful 3.0-liter, six-cylinder engine, and making the interior nicer. The X3 has agile handling, excellent steering and braking, and a smooth, eager powertrain. The ride is still stiff and choppy, though it is better than in past models. The interior is quiet and nicely finished, an improvement over the old X3. Cabin access is easy and the interior is mostly roomy, although a bit narrow. The X3 is relatively expensive, especially after common options are added. Reliability has recently dropped to below average, so we can't recommend it.
