The Maxx is a four-door hatchback version of the Malibu sedan. It offers easy interior access. Fit and finish is acceptable but nothing special. The coarse 3.5-liter V6 delivers good acceleration but only 21 mpg. A 3.9-liter V6 powers the sporty SS model. Handling is responsive and secure, but the steering is too light at low speeds.
